Making the switch to a vegan diet, might seem a little overwhelming. So much even, that you stop before you even tried. Even if you feel like you want to, you could consider the whole thing a little unrealistic altogether. The downsides overwhelming, the effort disproportionate. And who wants to be the radical guy, right? I feel you. We actually felt the same, and most people who already made the switch, did to. Luckily, in hindsight, we couldn’t have been more wrong. With our three key insight, you’ll get there in no time.
The radical way is the easy way
Changing everything all at once, might actually be the easy choice. A lot of people thought I was a little too radical. Why wouldn’t you change gradually, isn’t the sudden change recipe for disaster? No, not at all. As I explained earlier, the effort is mostly a change in habits, thus a one time event. After which, it is just as any other living person: you eat what you’re used eating. Making a radical switch shortens this period of effort drastically. It also takes away the constant debate taking place in your head. The continuous temptation to take just a little bit of cheese, or milk, or meat, or whatever. If you allow a little, it’s hard to say no to a little more. If you take a hard line, it’s easier to hold yourself accountable.
Don’t be too hard on yourself
At the same time, you have to be realistic. We’re are all just human, nobody is perfect. If you let yourself go, in a moment of weakness, you shouldn’t be ashamed of yourself. Incidents are part of the game. It’s the same as with smoking. It’s a bad habit, and you better stay far away from it altogether, but having a smoke on a nice birthday party shouldn’t be met with too much drama. The same goes with a vegan diet. Being radical, doesn’t mean you have to force anything. It’s only a diet, you know.
Everybody has another body
Lastly, take a light perspective on the issue. Others might think you’re some crazy person, but you should keep in mind that is it only a diet. Nothing more nothing less. Everybody has some type of diet, and every diet is unique in itself. Choices regarding what you eat, weather you eat a sandwich with cheese or with jam, aren’t a matter of life and death. At the same time, you have to be quite aware of what you eat whilst making the switch to another diet, even more so if it’s a vegan one. It’s very personal what your body needs in terms of nutrients. Every vegan will at least need to take B12 pills, and everything else can be eaten in natural products. What you need, depends completely on your body and lifestyle.
